BHABHARI [GRAM GRIDDLECAKE] — SAROJ

You can have this dish with lunch, evening tea or dinner. It is vegetarian, no eggs, and very rich in protein. It is a seasonal dish during the winter.

The ingredients for this dish of 6 griddlecakes:

Time 10 minutes preparation time and 10 minutes cooking time. Total 20 minutes.

Firstly

1 cup fresh green gram (hara chana)

1/2 cup whole gram flour(chana dal atta)

1/2 cup rice flour.

‘One medium onion finely diced

1 diced green chilly

Coriander leaves

Turmeric powder

1/4 teaspoon garam masala (mixed spices)

Salt to taste.

2 teaspoons mustard oil (rural) or refined oil (for the urban spoilt).

Method: Mix well all the ingredients (except oil) with a little water . Heat a griddlepan (thick pan) or non-stick pan with one teaspoon (not tablespoon) oil. Make flat cakes each of size of a large cookie. Cook on low heat, add a little oil and and flip aftaer 5 minutes. Heat this reverse side for 2 – 3 minutes. The idea is to endow both sides well cooked. Repeat to get your quota of six bhabhari
